"Clean" Diesel is a MYTH. They still smoke. They still put out lots of NOx. And they still rattle.

They have the particulate filter to make them APPEAR smokeless. They have an SCR and/or PEE tank to catch and crack the NOx to make it APPEAR clean. They have HIGH EGR RATES (25%+ recirculation!). And they have PILOT INJECTION to suppress the rattle.

ALL of this only hurts fuel economy, power, reliability and cost of ownership. The engines really haven't changed much at all in the last 5 years, engineers have only come up with ways to make them LOOK cleaner.</description>
