Volvo to Debut Diesel C30 at Frankfurt Motor Show

Volvo, the Swedish automaker best known for safety, is apparently making a bid to also be known for efficiency through an eco-friendly version of its C30 hatchback that’ll reportedly achieve over 52 mpg.

Set to be revealed at the rapidly approaching Frankfurt motor show, the Volvo C30 Efficiency will feature a 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine that produces 105 horsepower and even lower emissions than Volvo’s current European-market diesel engine of the same capacity. Engine-management optimization and low-friction oil are both utilized to stretch fuel economy.
