Let me start out by saying I was a child of the 80’s so I watched Transformers the tv show and the 1986 movie many, many times (”You’ve got the touch! You got the power!” Who could forget a song that’s good enough to be in Boogie Nights, a movie about porn?). I also had quite a few of the toys, my favorites, of the toys or show, were the Dinobots and Bumblebee. Obviously, when I heard Bumblebee was going to be a new Camaro, I was concerned.

I have nothing bad to say about the movie though. It was great. I went in hoping to be entertained and I came out thoroughly entertained. Yes there were a few inconsistencies from the original, and yes, it was a Michael Bay movie, but Michael Bay can sure do action. I actually never had a problem with it being Michael Bay. Like I said I went in just wanting to see an entertaining movie.

I don’t want to ruin anything so I’ll stay ambiguous. There was alot of action. Plenty of robot fighting. Some light-hearted comedy and good acting. There is even a few points where the Autobots tug at the ol’ heart strings.

I’d definitely recommend seeing this even if you haven’t ever seen the cartoons just don’t expect Shakespeare in CGI.
