Saab 9-3 Diesel Convertible

Check out the new Saab diesel. Twin turbo and 180hp on tap. It will also meet Euro 5 emissions so that means it probably wouldn’t take much to meet US emissions. hint, hint Saab.

Virgin Launches Europe’s First Bio-Diesel Train

LONDON - Europe’s first train powered by bio-diesel went into service here Thursday with Britain’s next prime minister Gordon Brown on board for its maiden journey.

Finance minister Brown travelled on the Virgin Voyager train which left London Euston station for Llandudno on the north Wales coast.

The train has been modified to run on a blended fuel which is 20 percent environmentally-friendly bio-diesel — fuel derived from sustainable and biological sources such as rapeseed, soyabean and palm oil — and produces less carbon dioxide emissions than diesel.

Milliband Presents Green Award to Ford Dagenham Engine Plant

Ford Dagenham’s newest engine production line has won a green award within two months of starting up, the company reports. Judges from Business Commitment to the Environment (BCE) have commended Ford’s environmental plan which underpins the new 1.4/1.6-litre engine manufacturing facilities. Ford is ramping up production of its recently launched 1.6-litre engine and adding the 1.4 version this month.

BCE recognised a raft of measures to use renewable materials, recycle and save energy by Ford’s diesel engine manufacturing operation. For example, fluids used during the machining of new engines are blended from vegetable oil rather than mineral oil. Also metal filings and other waste from the machining process are squeezed dry of lubricants and sold on as briquettes for recycling.
