Hyundai Veracruz to Have Clean Diesel Option for the States Soon

SEOUL — Hyundai plans to sell a clean diesel engine in the United States in 2009 or 2010.

The company’s first V-6 diesel, called the S-engine, will be offered on the Veracruz mid-sized crossover, says Dong Jin Kim, CEO of Hyundai Motor Co.

The 3.0-liter diesel already is available on Veracruz models sold in Europe and Korea. But it does not meet U.S. standards for all 50 states.

Gale Banks Seems to Know a Thing or Two About Diesel

Though this video is so painfully scripted it’s still cool to see what’s going on at Banks right now. I can’t wait to hear what 7000rpms sounds like with a diesel. My only question is when are they going to come out with stuff for my Jetta?
