UK’s Tesco to Increase Use of Biodiesel

Tesco is to run three quarters of its distribution fleet on 50 per cent bio-diesel from January.

It reckons its 2,000 strong fleet will be the first in the UK to use the B50 blend, which is half diesel and half bio-ethanol fuel.

The retailer hopes to cut its whole-life greenhouse emissions by over 70,000 tonnes per year - enough to fill more than 15,000 swimming pools.


For those reading who don’t know who Tesco is it’s the UK’s largest grocery store chain.

Synthetic Diesel Fuel Powers B-52 Bomber Flight

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE - In a move toward reducing the U.S. military’s dependence on foreign oil, a B-52 bomber made a test flight Friday using only a synthetic diesel fuel.

The flight is the latest in a series to validate that synthetic fuels can be used safely in military aircraft. The tests began in September, first using a 50-50 mixture of regular jet fuel and synthetic fuel in just two of the aircraft’s eight engines.
