To Sum Up What the LA Auto Show Says About Diesel

2008 is stacking up to be a good year for the diesel rebirth to “clean diesel”. Commitments to have a diesel model available for 2008 are coming from Audi, BMW, Jeep, Mercedes-Benz, and VW not to mention heavy-duty trucks from the Big Three. The VW auto group will have the smallest and largest offering of the newly introduced with a 2.0L BLUETEC VW Tiguan and the Audi Q7 getting the race proven monster V12.

Perhaps the most significant announcement at the show so far is that Volkswagen is joining DaimlerChrysler in that company’s Bluetec diesel concept, and will be offering diesel engines in Audi and VW products that meet California’s stringent 2008 emissions standards.
