It was the most stressful day of driving to date as we drove through heavy rains and then waited 5 1/2 hours to cross the border into Russia. The 36 Mercedes-Benz E320 diesels on their way from Paris-Beijing are in St. Petersburg on 27 October, 2006. Tomorrow, new drivers join us for the second leg of the transcontinental adventure.
It’s been awhile since I’ve said anything about my own personal dieseling experiences so here goes.
As some of you know I have a 2002 diesel Jetta. I’ve now owned it for almost three months (and put about 6000 miles on it), and I’m still loving it. I get 40mpg consistently, and it’s pretty comfortable. The last week or so has been pretty cold so I’ve gotten to use my seat warmers which is one of the best inventions of all time. The heater also works very nicely and it doesn’t take long before I’m turning the knob in between hot and cold.

Carmagazine of the U.K. is the first to review Jeep’s offering, and surprisingly it’s mostly favorable. Few times do I read a review of a vehicle where the magazine acknowledges the vehicle may not be built for the masses, and therefore rates it that way.
