Two More Cities Bow Down to Bio

Tucson, AZ and Oneota, NY are switching to biodiesel.

Following successful tests that started in July. Tucson, AZ has decided to switch the majority of its diesel fleet to B20 which will save them an estimated 200,000 gallons of petrol diesel. The city will also save an estimated $.05 a gallon from the switch.

Oneonta, NY has switched most of its diesel trucks including buses, fire trucks, and ambulances to B20 biodiesel. The city uses an estimated 138,000 gallons of diesel fuel a year. There the price is slightly more than that of conventional petrol diesel, but part of that will be offset by a grant form the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. This grant was able to cover about 75% of their initial costs incurred from setup and fuel purchases.
